The product – WordZo is a tool for improving a userâ€™s English vocabulary in an easy and effortless manner. The product has 20,000 e-books built in, packed with language essentials including meaning, context and translation into 32 different languages for better understanding. The product uses personalised contextual learning methodology to expand the active vocabulary of the users. WordZo makes use of the most natural way of improving vocabulary – reading and understanding words from its usage in a particular context. The user can select a book from the built in library and start reading. The system will monitor the progress of learning using a revision engine which automatically prioritises words for each user. The product is a completely hosted solution that requires no installation and follows Software As A Service (SaaS) delivery model. The team is working along with University of Strathclyde to build a system that can understand English language capability of customer using prediction intelligence and recommend books based on that.
How Is Your Product Unique From Others In The Field?
Other products in the vocabulary building market users rote learning primarily. Word lists and flash cards come under this category. Another method used is based on etymology. All these methods make the user learn words out of context which is ineffective because the user will forget the words easily and it will never become a part of his active vocabulary. WordZo enables the user to discover new words and learn them from a proper context. Such words are not easily forgotten, the revision engine in WordZo helps user revise words based on difficulty so that more difficult words are revised frequently.
What Is The Need In The Market And How Does It Serve The Requirement?
Exams like GMAT, GRE, CAT, MAT, IAS etc requires strong vocabulary skills. Most students in non English speaking countries find the vocabulary part of these exams really difficult. Vocabulary improvement schemes like flash cards and word lists focus on short term rote learning.The product idea was conceived from the personal experiences of a founder itself during his attempt to crack the GRE exam. Personally he tried out many methods and finally came up with the blue print for WordZo.

The primary customers are mainly competitive exam training organisations/attendees and schools where students would like to improve their English vocabulary skills as part of curriculum.The secondary market is English for speakers of other language (ESOL).
What Is The Technology application Being Used?
The application is built using PHP (code ignitor framework). Part of the application including the content, and computational intensive algorithms are delivered from a cloud server. The front end uses java script heavily for the book and the revision engine.

The primary revenue model for WordZo is individual subscription which is currently priced at 5$ a month. The user can use the free version for upto 25 words and then subscribe to use further. Another revenue model is selling corporate accounts in which a school/college or a coaching institution buys a number of accounts in bulk.

WordZo aims to be a full-fledged English language lab with books, dictionary, pronunciation and speaking exercise engine. The proposed system uses artificial intelligence to understand student capability.
